Music from and for the heart
The Eartheart Music Festival combines local bands with a positive message
On Sunday, August 24, the first Eartheart Music Festival will bring together a bill of like-minded bands with the goal of combining music with an awareness of how it affects our emotional and physical well-being. Dubbed “A manifestival 4 well being,” Eartheart is the brainchild of musician Charles Lallo.
The free, all-day affair begins at 2 p.m. and includes sets by Lallo & The Eartheart Experience, Idle Creatures, KQ & The Sound Trip, Morgan Cole Brown, and Michael Hillard & The Working Class.
“I certainly don’t have all the answers but I do think the uncanny synchronicity of earth and heart might hold a key to unlock some of the resources within ourselves that can lead to health,” Lallo said, as way of a manifest for the festival. “Presently, our health care system is so screwed up and inundated with so called professionals that seem to be more interested in the lifestyle rather than healing the way too many suffering people our society has created.”
Lallo will emcee, introducing each act and talking about physical and emotional health in between sets. “As I do the introductions, I will make some references to well-being, not specifically to health as I am not a physician,” Lallo said. “However, personally, my beliefs and experience tell me that stress seems to be at the root of all ailments and cultivating a mindset seeking a harmonious relationship between body, mind and spirit tend to accomplish an ease or peaceful flow within as opposed to dis-ease where there is a lack of peace, harmony and balance.”
”We should strive toward syncing and harmonizing body and mind as when body and mind are in sync, spirit (energy) can flow freely,” Lallo continued. “We live in a world that is constantly pulling our attention outside of ourselves, when it is critical that an effort to focus attention within gives us a better chance at health and well being. “
Doctors are unanimous that keeping a healthy balance between work and leisure is vital to both our emotional and physical well-being, and that’s the message that the festival will try to drive home.
”We seem to be ignorant of the fact that we die from the inside out NOT the outside in,” Lallo emphasized. “Therefore along with proper attitude toward food and techniques such as meditation, yoga, qi gong and such we can enhance well being. I think it was Plato (I could be mistaken) who said that the body and mind are sympathetic to each other. Realizing this it is important for us to seek truth about the human condition so as to harmonize our own selves with natures principles.”
One path to a healthy life balance is yoga, but Lallo said that even its practioners often don’t fully understand the implications.
”So many people I have spoken with that are yoga practitioners, when I ask then if they know the meaning of the word yoga,’ they have no idea,” Lallo explained. “Yoga means ‘union’ and its effort is to achieve union with God. It’s not only for physical well being. “

Yoga means “union” and its effort is to achieve union with God. It’s not only for physical well being,” Lallo concluded. “Politics and religion divide us. Earth and heart transcend all divisions and create a platform with these two ‘common denominators.”
And so, the “Eartheart Festival.”
”Music is my thing and my hope is that our moniker can awaken us to the deeper truths about ourselves, our world and God so as to guide us onto the right track that leads us into a world of health, happiness and well being for all,” Lallo stated. “ We are in a world that does not want us to embrace our spiritual nature. I’m not speaking religion as religion divides. I’m speaking of spirit by which we are all connected. That’s why I emphasize earth and heart. Politics and religion divide us. Earth and heart transcend all divisions and create a platform with these two “common denominators” to bring us toGETher.”
