CONSTANT LISTENER: JUNE CONCERT CALENDAR
Sinatra My Way, Lo-Fi Fest, Goatchella, and lots more local music
EVERY WEDNESDAY
Every Wednesday through the summer, Gregory McLoughlin will be doing free happy hour concerts at Symposia Community Bookstore (510 Washington St., Hoboken) from 5-7 p.m. Symposia is a non-profit bookstore filled with wonderful finds and McLoughlin - or “Greg, The Singing Bassist,” as I like to call him - is a good-vibes machine, just the ticket to brighten your Hump Day. Expect special guests, Lemonade Band members, and other surprises.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18
UNPLUGGED: JERSEY CITY returns on Wednesday, June 18 for “an intimate evening of music” in the beautiful theater of Art House Productions (345 Marin Blvd, JC). This month’s showcase features Bear Bosco, Monte Maybe, Great Oblivion, and Emerson Woolf & the Wishbones. Advance tickets are $16.50 (with fees) from Art House Productions. For more information, check out my interview with The Latest Noise’s Mike Kuzan here.
THURSDAY, JUNE 19
GC Booking brings some out of town talent to Finnegan’s Pub in Hoboken on Thursday, June 19. Asbury Park’s Sonic Blume, Glassboro’s Frankie Mermaid, and Ft. Lee’s Butchering Cassidy bring a mix of indie rock and post-hardcore punk. Admission is free but a donation of $10 in the tip jar isn’t a bad idea
FRIDAY, JUNE 20
Jersey City’s Crazy & The Brains are currently on a national tour and get to NYC on Friday, June 20 at Brooklyn’s TV Eye, on a fun bill with Celtic punks RumJack and the Stress. Showtime is 8 pm and advance tickets are $26.08 and available here.
Hoboken’s Beekeeper joins The Deep Pockets, Elli Velli, Nina Lee, and Shy & Idaho Coastlilne at The Delancey (168 Delancey St., NYC) for an early showcase curated by For The Love of Music. Music starts at 5:45 pm, Beekeeper goes on at 6:30 pm, and admission is $15.
SATURDAY, JUNE 21
Green Space Studios (543 40th St., Union City) is hosting an Indie Rock Night on Saturday, June 21, with lots of young, local talent, including Bitheru, OK Gang, Yugto, Twelvyse, Emily Echauz, and Epic the Rabbit. It’s an early show, 5 to 9 p.m., and admission is $10.
THURSDAY, JUNE 26
Two Hoboken bands who traffic in Sixties psychedelia take over the Pet Shop tonight, with performances from Psych-O-Positive and The Special Pillow. Also visiting from Philadelphia will be Our Bodies Themselves. Showtime is 8 p.m. and admission is free. Downstairs, in the PS Wine Bar, our friends at Mint 400 Records present a bill in with Above The Moon, Jacob Tremont, Gardenia, and Andhi & the O’Neills. (193 Newark Ave., Jersey City.)
FRIDAY, JUNE 27
Bist is one of my favorite young Hudson County bands. Last year at this time, they were at Goatchella 2024 and this weekend they’ll be playing Social Club Records (157 Park Ave., Rutherford) on a stacked bill with Chemical-X, Division One, and Alien. The show kicks off at 7:30 pm and admission is $10.
GOATCHELLA 2025 marks the Spring arrival of the bio-friendly goats to the Historic Harsimus & Jersey City Cemetery. The goats gobble up invasive weeds and people get to pet the goats. Win/win. This year’s Goatchella will be a two-day festival with music, vendors, food & drinks, and great vibes. Advance tickets are available from Eventbrite. Tickets at the gates are $20 for adults, $10 for accompanied minors.
